Three people and a tv leaving the market on a bike a trucker napping next to his rig a giant regional fresh vegetables market by giant I mean like 3-6 city blocks across, and with a roof that is about 5 stories above the floor. food types are in different areas. elsewhere there is an equally large area for fruit, for meats, fish and so on. there are motor bikes carrying people and things in the passageways between vendors. Here is an example, movement is constant. Here you can see how the roof arches over all. Lots of air, birds flying through a bamboo shoot seller's booth Hanuman preparing supper one night. the egglplants will have food on top. the floured fish is deep fired, with slits in it, traditonal in his kitchen, four dishes simulateously, lots of chopping prep Here is Ton, and a wall of pots. The kitchen is small, but functional prepared parts and on the table ready to eat the finished fish, peppers, and vegetables are primarily for decoration. The sauce is added just before eating another view the dining room Hanuman and I went to visit tool shops and to the Chinatown area. The edge of a market area, literally thousands of vendors, each area specific to certain foods, or machines, or electronics etc Bikes, giving an idea of how many there are everywhere. from a tuktuk, traffic, the most modern, expensive cars I've ever seen in one place, scarcely a rusted one to be seen a view from the tuktuk, they see 2-3 we enter another market area everywhere in Thailand, and I mean everywhere there are food prep stalls and people selling food, probably, literally every 10-20 feet on most roads and streets. traffic from the tuktuk an older building in the middle of newer structures. In a market, usually sheltered by roofs or tarps, so you are in the shade, this one is mostly chinese based foods, a long, covered street, with offshoots, covering many blocks a view of a stall, this one selling many kinds of fired, crispy fish bladders which are cut up into small strips and added to soups and other dishes a view and sense of how many people there are at all times, walking in the narrow alleys between vendors. Interestingly it is very rare for anyone to bump or even touch, somehow all slide past each other without much contact. a mushroom seller looking up, a glimpse of some of the wiring, the apartments on each side of the covered street are 5-8 stories high a take away food seller, prepared curries, foods, roasted pork and duck at the back the largest spice grinder I've ever seen at a spice store back on the street, a view of things. You thread your way through the street if you want to cross a sidewalk shot, crispy pork in the case on the right There are tons of huge busses, double decks, bottom floor with a lounge, tv, food, hostesses and entertainment entering Chinatown an example of a trendy haircut Inside a different market area, again dozens of covered alleys, this gives a sense of how tall the space is another tuktuk ride, a glimpse of a momentary traffic stop waiting for a light. The man in the orange jacket is a motorcycle taxi driver, the man on the back his passenger. we went to a temple to park, and I heard chasing. It was these children, and it turned out to be their chasing class we went to the teacher, who sat in a room inspecting work. Children spend two hours a week on chasing as part of their art classes in this northern school lettering panels on pitch boards a girl chasing here is how she held the tool the small ball peen is pretty universally the chasing hammer the students take the finished chasing and heat it, coating it with black shoe polish, baking it on. Then they use coarse steel wool to remove the polish, leaving it in the recesses.
